Shag, Salsa, Ballroom and Line Dancing 

Terri Beason has returned for another season of fitness fun.  Terri will begin September's  line up with line dancing, shag and new to this year's roster...Salsa!  What a wonderful way to get your   hour of cardio and be the hit of your holiday parties at the same time!  

All dance lessons are $15.00 per session, per person.   

Please register early...these classes fill quickly!

    Monthly "Lunch & Learn" meetings -
    A fun, effective group that "eats to learn." Each meeting starts with a pot-luck luncheon followed by informative speakers covering a variety of topics to help everyone learn the elements of continued care. Topics range from acute and chronic diseases and ailments to lunch & learn sessions that discuss pertinent topics of the time (i.e. Medicare prescription cards). Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month and are FREE to both members and non-members.

    *Hours of operation are subject to change  due to weather, staffing and school schedules. 

    Waterpark Birthday Partiesare available Mondays - Fridays (excluding holidays) for 15 children.  Fee: $85 (Call the front desk for more information) Remember, we love to have guest, BUT we do not want to dis-place our monthly paying members with too many guests. Therefore, MAFC has a guest policy for the water park that differs from the main facility. During May, June, and holiday weekends guests are allowed Monday through Thursday to prevent overcrowding for our members.  No guests are permitted on holidays or on weekends until July 11th.

    Scuba Certifications

    Enjoy The World`s #1 water sport - Scuba diving.MAFC offers year round NAUI scuba courses. Through Diver Style Scuba you can earn your certification, get recertified and/or experience great excursionsOf all the scuba certification programs available, NAUI is the premiere "education" program. Once NAUI scuba certified, you are ready to dive anywhere in the world. Training varies based the class you choose. Sessions is split between classroom and pool instruction. After successfully completing your training, you will be able to secure your Open Water Evaluation or sign up for a fantastic scuba adventure through Diver Style Scuba. Open Water Evaluations are for new divers and are scheduled separately and are an additional cost. Combine your Open Water Evaluation with one of the many exciting scuba excursions.     CLASS: Scuba Diver - entry level
    AGES: 12 years and older
    COST: $175 for MAFC members
              $199 for MAFC members
    MEETINGS: the following classes meet twice weekly for three weeks, excluding holidays
       Sept. 8-24    OR    Oct. 6-22    OR    Nov. 3-19    OR    Dec. 1-17


    CLASS: Advanced Scuba Diver - this class allows you to night dive, experience extended depth dives and take
    part in boat and navigation diving. Must be a certified Scuba Diver already.
    COST: $130 for MAFC members
              $150 for non-MAFC members
    MEETINGS: meets twice for approximately 1.5-2 hours each academic session. Also must complete 5 required dives
                Sept. 19 & Oct. 10    OR     Nov. 7 & 14

    CLASS: Nitrox Diver - this is a class that teaches diving using gases other than air. Great for active and older
    divers. Must be scuba certified.
    COST: $90 for MAFC members
              $120 for non-MAFC members
    MEETINGS: has 1 academic session lasting approximately 3-3.5 hours. No other dives required

    Lifeguard Training Certifications -
    Are you 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or challenging career? Lifeguarding will help you develop skills and experiences that will be valued by colleges and future employers. Participants will learn the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Upon successful completion of the course, each new lifeguard will receive certifications in Lifeguard Training and Community First Aid vaild for (3) years and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) valid for (1) year.     Carmen's entire team of therapists offer a complete line of services to restore, cleanse and relax you and your loved ones. So, let MAFC and Massage@Work take care of you. Cecy Dessingue specializes in soothing Swedish table massage to the uniquely penetrating Ashiatsu massage (or "bar massage"), graduating first in therapeutic massage at SPCC in 2005,  Steve Fowler brings massage experience both in from the medical enviornment as well as many exclusive spas in Charlotte. Heather Elkins is a fulltime therpaist specializing in Aromatherapy, Sport/Athletes massage, Deep Tissue, Swedish massage and body treatments.     Traditional Okinawan Karate - For Kids and Adults 


    Isshin-Ryu Karate is a traditional Okinawan form of Karate that became very popular with Marines stationed in Okinawa during and after WWII. It emphasizes self-discipline, basic stances, kicks, hand techniques and self defense techniques. Our limited class sizes provided more individualized instruction and all classes are taught by black belts with a rank of 3rd  degree or higher. Learn how to move, kick, punch and block properly focusing on respect as the cornerstone on which all true martial arts is built. A karate uniform is not necessary. Students should wear comfortable, loose clothing (sweats). Classes will accommodate beginning students as well as the advanced. classes are students 8 and older.
