Registration begins one month prior to starting date of session.
Parent/Child Ages: 6 months to 2 1/2 years Pre-requisite: Parent or Guardian must be in the water with child This class is a water exploration with primary skills being taught such as blowing bubbles, getting the face wet, and kicking. Along with learning new skills, games and songs are introduced and water safety is stressed.
Pre-school I - Water Exploration Ages: 2 1/2 - 5 years Pre-requisite: None Introduces students to the enjoyment of the water. Students will learn: *Enter & exit water independently *Submerge mouth, nose and eyes *Open eyes (without goggles) underwater to retrieve objects at arms length. *Show comfort floating on front and back with little or no assistance.
Pre-school II - Primary Skills Ages: 3 - 5 1/2 years Pre-requisite: Must be able to fully submerge their head. Class introduces students to the basic fundamental swimming skills and orientation to deep water. Students will learn: *Maintain a back and front floating position unassisted *Swim on front (combining arm and leg actions on front - Front Crawl) *Swim on back (combining arm and leg actions on back - Back Crawl) *Roll over front to back & back to front *Gliding front and back *General water safety
Pre-school III - Stroke Readiness Ages: 3 - 5 1/2 years Pre-requisite: Students must be able to swim independently 10 ft on front and back. Students are introduce to lap swimming and building endurance. Students will learn: *Jumping into deep water *Diving(sitting, kneeling and standing position) *Front crawl rotary breathing *Butterfly kick and body motion *Back crawl arm action *Elementary backstroke *Treading water in deep water independently
Level I Ages: 5 1/2 - 12 years Pre-requisite: None Introduces students to the enjoyment of the water. Level IV Ages: 5 1/2 - 12 years Pre-requisite: Successful demonstration of skills learned in Level III. Class develops confidence in the strokes learned and improves aquatic skills. In addition students will learn: *Dive from side in compact and stride position *Improving Front crawl and Back crawl, Elementary backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and sidestroke *Breathing control *Open turns *Safe rules for diving *Helping others
Levels V/Pre-Swim Team Ages: 7 - 12 years Pre-requisite: Successful demonstration of skills learned in Level IV. Student develop further coordination and refinement of strokes and building endurance. In addition these skills will be taught: *Shallow diving from the side(deep water) *Breathing control *Survival float *Treading water *Flip turn while swimming on front *Flip turn while swimming on back *Survival swimming *Helping others *Front crawl, Back crawl, Butterfly, Elementary backstroke, Breaststroke and sidestroke
Adults Ages 13 years and up Pre-requisite: None Designed for adults to progress at their own pace. an instructor will be in the water with the students working on individual needs. |
